By all accounts Tolkien was a very amenable and helpful fellow. Due to this there are quite a number of books that credit him for contributions of various kinds - proof reading, offering advice & criticism and general encouragement, etc.

An Introduction to Old Norse. E.V. Gordon. 1927. Clarendon Press. Tolkien read the proofs of the Grammar and made suggestions and corrections.

þe Liflade ant te Passiun of Seinte Iuliene. S.R.T.O. d'Ardenne. 1936. University of Liege. JRRT helped with the revision of the glossary and grammar. Book is dedicated to him.

The Battle of Maldon. E.V. Gordon. 1937. Methuen. Tolkien read the proofs, made corrections and contributions, and offered solutions 'to many textual and philological problems'.

Viga-Glums Saga. G. Turville-Petre. 1940. Oxford University Press/Oxford English Monographs. Tolkien was a General Editor for the series and is credited in the Preface.

The Oxford Book of Greek Verse in Translation. T.F. Higham & C.M. Bowra. 1944. Oxford University Press. Tolkien helped with 'Introduction Part II - Greek Poetry in Translation'.

Elizabethan Acting. B.L. Joseph. 1951. Oxford University Press/Oxford English Monographs. JRRT contributed comments and encouragement. He was a General Editor for the series.

þorgils Saga ok Hafliða. Ursula Brown. 1952. Oxford University Press/Oxford English Monographs. JRRT contributed criticism and advice. He was a General Editor for the series.

Pearl. E.V. Gordon. 1953. Oxford University Press. Tolkien wrote part of the Introduction: 'Form and Purpose', and added notes and corrections.

Sir Orfeo. A.J. Bliss. 1954. Oxford University Press/Oxford English Monographs. Tolkien was a General Editor for the series and is credited in the Preface.

The Ancrene Riwle. M.B. Salu. 1955. Burns & Oates. Tolkien provided the Preface and  is credited in the Translator's Note.
