A map of Númenórë is located opposite page 213. The 1980 version of the map of The West of Middle-earth at the End of the Third Age has been omitted.

Although it is not actually stated that this is a Book Club Associates Edition, it was only available from BCA outlets. It appears to be the pages of the standard hardback edition bound as a paperback.

The copy seen was a 1st Impression.

* The ISBN from the 1991 Grafton and the 1993 HarperCollins paperback editions (0261102168) appears on the verso of the title page in error. No ISBN appears on the wrappers.
