This catalogue includes two Tolkien-related lots:
206 - A one page letter to Tim Robinson, dated 29 February 1956. In the extracts quoted, Tolkien apologises being unable to attend a meeting of the Oxford University English Club. (The complete letter was reproduced in full in ADC Books Catalogue 2007, see page 36)
207 - A letter to Roger Shaw, dated 7 January 1966. The lot description includes extracts from the letter, discussing Iceland, The Lord of the Rings and Midgwater Marshes. (Previously published in a Sotheby's catalogue for an auction on 12 December 2002, see Lot 527).
The letters are not included in The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien (1981).
