Lot 638 (pp.190-3) consists of a typescript of Bilbo's Last Song (at the Grey Havens), together with two one-page letters to Joy Hill regarding the poem, dated 28 October 1971.
The typescript is annotated by Tolkien, stating that he presented the poem to Joy Hill (including the copyright) on 3 September 1970 "as a token of gratitude for her work on my behalf."
The poem was published as a poster illustrated by Pauline Baynes in 1974.
The typescript, the two letters, the poster artwork by Pauline Baynes and finished poster are all reproduced in photographs.
A very brief excerpt from one of the letters was printed in English Literature and History when the typescript and letters were auctioned by Sotheby's on 15 December 1992.
The letters are not included in The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien (1981).
