The ISBN quoted above (0048232165) comes from an Unwin Hyman promotional brochure. This ISBN was used in 1987 for The Tolkien Box Set containing paperback editions of The Hobbit and the three volume The Lord of the Rings.

It is possible that this set was actually issued as ISBN 0048232009, as used for the previous edition.
