Notes
The description for Lot 601 includes a transcription of a Quenya inscription in Elaine Griffiths' copy of The Fellowship of the Ring - "Elainen tárin Periandiou ar meldenya anyáran". This translates as "For Elaine, the queen of Hobbits and my oldest [or, very old] friend". The inscription was reproduced in a photograph.

The transcription of the inscription was also included in Peter Harrington's July 2005 catalogue. This appeared online as a pdf download and may also have been published in hard copy.
