Notes
The map showing A Part of The Shire appears on page 30. The 1954 version of the map of The West of Middle-earth at the End of the Third Age is present in full on page 6 as well as appearing spread over four integral pages. The Map of Gondor, Rohan and Mordor appears on pages 774-775.

This edition only includes a brief excerpt from the Appendices - A Part of the Tale of Aragorn and Arwen from the Annals of the Kings and Rulers.

Issued in an imitation burgendy leather binding.

The Guild imprint appears on the title page and verso, but the BCA logo appears on the spine of the dustwrapper.

Eight impressions issued, all similar:

1st Impression 1980
2nd Impression 1981
3rd Impression 1984
4th Impression 1985
5th Impression 1986
6th Impression 1987
7th Impression 1988
8th Impression 1989

Some printings do not acknowledge earlier issues giving the (false) impression that they are first printings.

Some of the signatures in some copies of the 1981 Impression are printed on white paper rather than the usual cream coloured paper.

Copies of the 1980 Guild Edition and its reprints were issued both with and without a BCA dustwrapper. The wrapper-less edition can be seen here.
