Left hand side panel of slipcase. This is the right hand section of the artwork by Pauline Baynes.
It features a scene with mountains and a river in the foreground. In the middle-distance is a multi-walled city - Minas Tirith - and an erupting Mount Doom. In the far distance is what appears to be another tower - this may be Barad- dûr. This panel must then represent the final volume of The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King. Each panel of the slipcase is made from a separate piece of board. The two sides and the back panel are covered by the artwork printed on cartridge paper. The top and bottom panels are covered with black linson, as is the inside of the slipcase. |
