Page Ref.: None. Notes
Includes:
1) Brief excerpts from notes made in the early 1950s on the etymology of Eriador. (See p.4)
2) The Rivers and Beacon-hills of Gondor edited by Carl F. Hostetter. (See pp.5-31) This includes portions of a letter to Paul Bibire dated 30 June 1969 in addition to an essay entitled Nomenclature. These discuss the names of rivers and beacons and are accompanied by additional commentary and materials provided by Christopher Tolkien. Portions of this text were reproduced in Unfinished Tales. An edition was prepared by Christopher Tolkien for inclusion in The Peoples of Middle-earth (1996), but this was omitted from the published book on consideration of length. Much of Christopher Tolkien's commentary is included in the present edition.
3) Negation in Quenya by Bill Welden. (See pp.32-34) This quotes from a late linguistic essay.
