426 (p.244) - This lot consists of a signed First Edition set of The Lord of the Rings, together with a letter to E. Rasdall, dated 10 July 1964. The extracts quoted in the lot description discuss Tree and Leaf and The Silmarillion.
428 (p.245) - This lot consists of a signed First Edition copy of The Adventures of Tom Bombadil, together with a letter to E. Rasdall, dated 28 August 1964. The extract quoted in the lot description discusses correspondence and delays to the publication of The Silmarillion.
429 (p.246) - This lot consists of two letters to Ken Jackson, dated 4 January 1968 and 29 January 1968. The quotes in the lot description mention the back-room boys for a dramatisation of The Hobbit and the origin of the name 'Bag-End'. The end of the second letter is reproduced in a photograph. |
